If the Truth is Right in Front of you.

John 3:1-13

I was asked by a sister in Christ to comment on John 3:1-13. She specifically asked me to relate it to myself and what I learned from it.

John 3 is a story about a man named Nicodemus. Nicodemus was a member of the Jewish ruling counsel. The same counsel that was opposing the teachings of Jesus.

Nicodemus didn’t allow his counsel’s disapproval of Jesus to stop him from meeting with Jesus. One evening Nicodemus snuck off to meet with Jesus. What transpired during the conversation was some of the most important dialog in the entire book of John.

Throughout the entire conversation, it seems as if nicodemus “almost” understands what Jesus is saying to him.

I feel as if this was me for years. I was researching and researching the Bible, Jesus, other religions etc… and for a very long time I felt like I “almost” understood what Jesus was saying.

But it wasn’t until I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior that I began to truly understand. When we are “born again”, we now have The Holy Spirit living inside of us. Without the guidance of The Holy Spirit, it is impossible to understand the things of the Spirit.

We are trapped in our carnal mind. Unable to see the Truth sitting right across from us.

In Nicodemus’s case, without even realizing it, he was literally sitting across the table from the O

ne who could give him true access to what he was seeking. Spiritual truth.

I thank God every day for revealing His Truth to me!

What I have learned is that there are many people in my life that I wish to be saved. And no matter how hard I try, it seems they just don’t understand what I’m trying to tell them. Even with Jesus right in front of him, Nicodemus couldn’t understand what was being said to him. Or maybe even chose not to understand it at that time.

I pray that God softens the hearts of the people I love so they can see Him clearly.
